Thailand’s SEC Strengthens Digital Asset Oversight Following Binance Security Incident
On 30 October, Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission said it was monitoring the cybersecurity incident involving Binance’s overseas platform and had instructed licensed domestic digital-asset operators to assess risks, protect customer assets and report any potential impact. Initial reports indicated no significant impact on customer assets held by operators in Thailand. The regulator did not announce a new compliance budget or financial penalty. Digital-asset businesses, financial institutions and compliance advisers can explore opportunities in cybersecurity controls, regulatory reporting and risk management.
